Man’s Search for Meaning is a book for those who are struggling to understand what the most important aspect of life is. Heck, what am I saying this is a book everyone should read. The book is written by psychiatrist Viktor E. Frankl who survived the Nazi death camps. In his book he writes about what it is that determines whether a person will give up on life or not. Through the years of suffering in the camp he learned that above food and water there stands an even greater need – purpose.

Singer describes the voice in our head, as an annoying roommate. Always having conflicts, never agreeing. By understanding the voice, and what it actually is, we can learn to remove ourselves from its influences, stop listening to it and instead to become an observer of it instead. By tapping into traditions of meditation and mindfulness, we can learn how to become enlightened and take control of our own mind.
“When a problem is disturbing you, don’t ask, “What should I do about it?” Ask, “What part of me is being disturbed by this?”
― Michael Singer, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself
